– It was revealed in March 2019, that Choi Junghoon was a part of an online group chat where he filmed and distributed sex videos of women without their consent six times along with celebrities like former CNBLUE’s Jonghyun and the former singer Jung Joonyoung.
– The chat also revealed that he bribed the police to bury his drunk driving case that happened in 2016.
– Fans were enraged and demanded him to be removed from the group and FNC Entertainment announced his departure from FTISLAND and retirement from the entertainment industry on March 14, 2019.
– He admitted to illegally filiming and spreading hidden camera footage and pictures in April 2019 and later in the same month a woman claimed that he along with four other men gangraped her in March 2016 when she was drunk, filmed her without consent and shared the explicit video in a chatroom.
– Choi Junghoon was convicted of all the crimes and was sentenced to five years in prison on November 29, 2019. Six months later, his sentence was reduced to half because a settlement was reached with one of the victims and he was released from prison on November 8, 2021.
