Big O!cean (빅오션) is a three-member deaf Kpop boy group under PARASTAR Entertainment. The group members are Park Hyunjin, Kim Jiseok, and Lee Chanyeon. They made their debut on April 20, 2024 with the song ‘Glow.’

– Big O!cean was previously known as S-Boyz.
– They filmed a dance challenge with RIIZE.
– The group uses sign language in their performance.
– Their debut song ‘Glow’ is a remake of H.O.T.’s song “Hope”.
– All members use cochlear implants for processing sounds and speech.
– Big O!cean is the first ever South Korean deaf boy group.
– The group was invited to the Hangzhou Paralympics in China.
– They aim to create their own music genre called S-Pop which is a combination of Korean (KSL), American (ASL) and International (ISL) sign languages.

1. Park Hyunjin

Park Hyunjin Facts:

– Park Hyunjin developed a loss of hearing when he was two and got a high fever that weakened his hearing. (OneshotHansol)
– He is a content creator who raises awareness for hearing impairment.
– It took him half a year to get used to cochlear implants.
– He admires Beethoven.
– He usually reads other people’s lips to know what they are saying but also uses a speech recognition app if he can’t see them properly.
– His specialty is being a creator.
– He was into toy radios when he was five and used to listen to them at full volume which damaged his hearing further.  (WERACLE)
– His mother took him to the hospital and he was diagnosed with hearing impairment when he didn’t respond to his mother calling him from the kitchen and asking him to lower the sound of the radio.
– He has worn hearing aids since he was five. (OneshotHansol)
– His hearing got damaged even further when his foot got stuck in the banister as he was jumping over it to get to the cafe at the age of nine. He fell and hit the left side of his head. He had a cochlear implant surgery after the incident.
– He said people used to call him ‘Beethoven’ instead of his name to ridicule him as they considered him a symbol of impaired hearing.  (OneshotHansol)
– He used to get bullied a lot in school so he started making videos to raise awareness.
– His shoe size is 265mm.
