Controversy & Departure from H1-KEY
– Sitala was announced as a member of H1-KEY in November 2021 and soon after Thai netizens started demanding her removal from the group as she was the daughter of the late Thai actor Sarunyu Wongkrachang, who was a well known supporter of the People’s Alliance for Democracy, a party responsible for the Thai political crisis in 2006 and 2014.
– Things got further out of hand when she wrote that she looked up to her father as her role model in her profile and Thai fans started accusing her of also being a supporter of the military dictatorship and wrote over 1,000 comments on the group’s official accounts.
– GLG released a statement in December 2021 stating that Sitala cannot be bearing the burden of her father’s actions and will not be removed from the group.
– But in May 2022 five months after their debut, she voluntarily decided to leave H1-KEY, citing ‘personal reasons’ and was replaced by Hwiseo.
