K’POPULATION (K-POP) was a five-member South Korean boy group produced by Joo Younghoon. The group members were Joomin, Donghwa, Youngwon, Yoobin, and Woohyun. They debuted on September 10, 2001 with the album ‘K’POP‘.

– K-POP was only active for three years before disbanding in 2004.
– Their representative color was pearl peach.
– The group was produced by the composer Joo Younghoon.
– They released three studio albums in their career ‘K’POP’, ‘CU @ KPOP’ and ‘Memories’.
– Their last album ‘Scent of Memories’ made it in the top 10 of Korea’s national charts.
– All K-POP members have left the entertainment industry and work as ordinary people.
– Their fans gave them the name ‘flower boys’.
– The group’s song ‘0.5’ consisted of anti-Japanese sentiments and was a subject of controversy aboard.
– The last song they promoted was ‘Lover Boys’.
– In 2004, the group halted activities after the release of their third album ‘Scent of Memories’ because of members mandatory military enlistment but they eventually disbanded.
– The members visited Vietnam together in 2018 and also appeared on the show ‘Sugarman 2’.

Controversy

– In 2007, K-POP was caught in a controversy a few years after their disbandment because of a rumor that two members were in an alleged gay relationship and one of them cheated with another idol which resulted in a physical altercation between the two.
– Netizens later debunked the rumor and found that it surfaced at an online gossip forum. The fight however did take place between Woohyun and Youngwon in January 2003 where Youngwon attacked and punched Woohyun while drunk until the staff stopped him.
– The label kept the fight a secret and announced that Woohyun’s injuries were because of a car accident.
– The fight was resolved a month later in February 2003 where Youngwon publicly apologized to Woohyun in their concert.

– Their most popular songs include ‘Mirage’,’0.5’, ‘Shadow’ and ‘Scent of Memories’.
