– A month later, he was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run, leading to the temporary cancellation of his activities.
– Another DUI incident occurred on May 24, 2016, and he decided not to participate in 2017 promotions to reflect on his actions.
– On November 17, 2017, he was involved in an assault controversy when the police received a call that Kangin was drunk and was harassing a woman at a bar. Police later clarified that it was a minor dispute and later both parties reconciled on the scene.

Reasons for Leaving Super Junior

– He revealed that the ultimate reason he left the group was because his name was mentioned in the “Burning Sun group chat” incident.
– He had filmed something in Germany in which a guy involved in the controversy was also cast. Hence, all the cast members were in a separate group chat with the guy. And because of his association with the said guy, his name was also mentioned in the incident.
– When articles were released suspecting that he could be involved in the incident, he received an immense amount of backlash and hate.
– He left Super Junior to protect their reputation as the media was constantly dragging down the group’s name in the scandal. (Kpop Starz)

– He won the “Best Actor” award at the Seoul Webfest Awards for “What Happened to Mirae” in 2019.
