BANG&JUNG&YOO&MOON Members Profile & Facts

BANG&JUNG&YOO&MOON, formerly known as B.A.P, is a four-member Kpop boy group under MA Entertainment. The group members consist of Yongguk, Daehyun, Youngjae, and Jongup. They initially debuted as a six-member group on January 26, 2012, with the single “Warrior”.

– The group’s name, BANG&JUNG&YOO&MOON, is made up of the first names of all four members.
– They were initially formed and debuted under TS Entertainment.
– Zelo is also expected to join the group after his discharge from the military.
– Youngjae and Daehyun were incharge of the Japanese in the group along with Himchan and the rest of the members were incharge of English during the interviews. (High Cut Japan)
– The group’s former name, B.A.P, stood for “Best Absolute Perfect”.
– The members spent Chirstmas together every year for four years straight after their debut.
– B.A.P’s concept was that all the members were aliens and they were on a mission to save the Earth.
– All B.A.P members had their own official matoki (short for “Masked Rabbit”) that represented them.

– After BANG&JUNG&YOO&MOON reformation, they released the documentary “Man on the Moon”.

– In 2023, fans were enraged to see B.A.P’s MAMA awards trophy received in 2012 was found in a flea market in the Philippines after a girl posted a Tiktok that her mother bought the trophy in 2020 for 4000 won ($3.08). The fans cursed TS Entertainment for their blatant mistreatment of the group.

Achievements

– They sold over 10,000 copies of their debut single in a span of two days and debuted at #10 on the Billboard’s World Albums Chart.
– They managed to rank #1 on Billboard’s ‘World Albums’ chart with “One Shot” only a year after their debut.
– They held the record for being the only kpop act with having 3 of their songs hit #1 on the Billboard‘s World Albums chart.

Lawsuit & Settlement with TS Entertainment

– All B.A.P members filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment in November 2014 on the basis that their contract was not beneficial to the group and was only in the favor of the company, terming it as a “slave contract.”
– The contract’s unfair practices included the contract’s length of 7 year and 10 months, its starting date not on the date of signing but from the release of their first album, unfair profit distribution of 1:9 and other civil rights violation clauses that went against the rules set by the Fair Trade Commission.
– The group stated that their activities earned the company around 10 billion won (around 9.1 million USD) but they each got only 18,000,000 KRW (around 13,000 USD) in 3 years despite their success.
– They also revealed that the company also pushed them to perform despite them being sick, making them perform over 50 concerts without a break and once taking the members directly from the hospital to the concert. The members’ necessary medical and other expenses were not burdened by the company but by their families.
– TS Entertaiment rejected the claims but the group challenged their statement and considered filing for defamation, while also highlighting the company’s lack of accountability.
– The group settled their issues with the company and returned to the company in August 2015, almost a year after their filing.

Departure from TS & Reformation

– Zelo and Yongguk left in late 2018 after their contracts expired and the rest of the members left on February 18, 2019.
– Jongup had hinted at the possibility of a reunion and tried the hardest at their reformation, starting when Yongguk enlisted in the military. (‘Man on the moon’ EP.1)
– The group reformed under the name BANG&JUNG&YOO&MOON on June 12, 2024 with their new name, 6 years after their disbandment in 2019 and released the EP “Curtain Call”.

Major Works

– Their popular songs include “ONE SHOT”, “WAKE ME UP” and “1004”.

Awards

– B.A.P won their first Bosang award in 2013 at the Seoul Music Awards and another one in 2017 at the Soribada Best K-Music Awards.
– They won several Best New Artist and Best Male Rookie awards in 2012 and 2013.

Daehyun Facts:
