2PM Members Profile & Facts

2PM (투피엠) is a South Korean six-member Kpop boy group under JYP Entertainment. The group members consist of Jun. K, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung. They initially debuted as a seven member group on September 4, 2008 with the single album “Hottest Time of the Day.”

2PM Profile

2PM Facts:

– All 2PM members auditioned for JYP except for Nichkhun who was scouted in the US and became JYP’s first non-Korean trainee.
– JYP launched a reality show “Hot Blood Men” and it formed the boy group “One Day”, consisting of eleven members. The boy group was split into two groups 2AM and 2PM.
– All the members of the group are Korean except for Nichkhun who is Thai-American.
– 2PM became popular for rejecting the usual flower boy image and adopting a more masculine “jimseung-dol” (beast/animal) image.
– The group was also nicknamed “Beastly Idols” in Japan because the group’s average height was 180cm and had manly dance moves.
– The group didn’t appoint a new leader after their former member Jaebeom left the group who was the oldest and also the leader of 2PM.
– They were the first group to feature multiple acrobatics choreographies in their performances.
– They are considered an inspiration and role models by groups like SEVENTEEN, SF9, MONSTA X and Stray Kids.
– Some members of the group left JYP Entertainment but are still members of 2PM.
– The group went into hiatus in 2017 due to the members mandatory military service and officially made a comeback in 2021.
– The youngest member, Chansung, is the only member who is married in 2PM.

Jaeboem’s Departure from 2PM

– In September 2009, someone hacked his personal myspace account and dug out his posts from 2005 in which he had expressed displeasure for Korea and its systems while he was a trainee under JYP.
– His posts were taken out of context by the Korean media and he apologized for the controversy and went to the US for a hiatus. Netizens demanded to remove him from the group but JYP announced that he would remain as a member of 2PM.
– The members split their income for the first album with Jaebeom in support and paid homage during an award show by shining a spotlight in his dance position as his vocals were played.
– In February 2010, JYP announced that Jaebeom officially left the group and his contract was terminated.

Major Works

– Their popular songs include “Hands Up”, “My House”, “Make it” and “A.D.T.O.Y”.

Awards

– 2PM won the “Artist of the Year” award at the 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards, only a year after their debut.
– The group went on to win several awards in their extensive career including multiple Bonsang awards, Best Male Group awards and “Popularity” awards.

1. Jun.K

Jun.K Facts:

– Jun.K is the oldest member in 2PM.
– Things he would like his woman to do from him is cooking and taking care of him and gently waking him up with a forehead and laughing at his jokes. (GIRL Magazine)

– He goes for a walk with his dog Denver almost everyday.

2. Nichkhun

Nichkhun Facts:

– Before GOT7’s Bambam and BLACKPINK’s Lisa debuted, Nickhun was the only Thai idol who was successful in Korea.
– He said he can playfully talk to a woman and even hug her if he isn’t into her but cannot dare to approach a girl he likes and will ask her friends for help.
– His first priority is his family then love if he is in love, and lastly work.
– He has a protective and teasing relationship with his younger sisters.
– He is the only foreign member in 2PM.
– Before becoming a trainee, he was getting out of line by ditching his high school to play badminton in San Gabriel with friends so his dad then pursued him to move to Korea to turn his life around. (KPDB Ep. #78)

Taecyeon Facts:

4. Wooyoung

Wooyoung Facts:

– Wooyoung was desperate to enter JYP, so he went to the “Wonder Girls” not caring about gender because it was a “JYP audition”. (Knowing Bros)
