Kyuhyun (규현) is a South Korean singer and TV host under Antenna. He is a member of the boy group Super Junior and its subunits, Super Junior-M and Super Junior K.R.Y. He made his solo debut on November 13, 2014, with an album single “At Gwanghwamun”.

– Kyuhyun was born in Hagye-dong, Nowon district, Seoul, South Korea.

Car Accident

– On April 19, 2007, he was involved in a car accident along with Eunhyuk, Shindong, and Kyuhyun while returning home after recording a program for Kiss The Radio. The van flipped over onto the right side after a left tire burst.
– Shindong and Eunhyuk sustained minor injuries, and Leeteuk and Kyuhyun faced more severe consequences, leading to their hospitalization. Kyuhyun, positioned behind the driver’s seat during the accident, suffered extensive injuries, including a fractured hip, pneumothorax from broken ribs, and facial scratches and bruises. He developed pneumothorax from a broken rib piercing his lungs, leading to a four-day coma.
– His condition was critical, and even after the invasive surgery he only had a 20% chance of survival. (asiae)
– The doctor initially proposed a procedure that would have required piercing a hole into Kyuhyun’s neck, potentially ending his singing career. Despite the recommendation, his father strongly opposed the operation, insisting that Kyuhyun would prefer death over losing his ability to sing. A heated debate ensued between his parents and doctors until another surgeon, Dr. Wang Youngpil, proposed an alternative operation involving an incision in the ribs.
– After spending six days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), he was moved to a regular hospital room. He couldn’t walk independently until a month after the accident. Kyuhyun’s discharge took place on July 5, 2007.
– Doctors said that it was a miracle that he recovered.
