TREASURE (트레저) is a South Korean 10-member K-pop boy group under YG Entertainment. The group members consist of Choi Hyunsuk, Jihoon, Yoshi, Junkyu, Yoon Jaehyuk, Asahi, Haruto, Doyoung, Park Jeongwoo, and So Junghwan. They debuted on August 7th, 2020 with the single album “The First Step: Chapter One”.

Formation of TREASURE
– In 2018, the reality show “YG Treasure Box” was released, consisting of 29 trainees who would make it into the next YG Boy group.
– After the eliminations, Haruto, Bang Yedam, So Junghwan, Junkyu, Park Jeongwoo, Yoon Jaehyuk, and Choi Hyunsuk made it into the final lineup of the new boy group named “Treasure”.
– In 2019, YG announced the second lineup of trainees consisting of Ha Yoonbin, Mashiho, Doyoung, Yoshi, Jihoon, and Asahi who would become members of “Magnum”.
– Both Treasure and Magnum were collectively called “Treasure 13”.
– After the departure of Ha Yoonbin, Treasure and Magnum merged into one group “TREASURE”.
Achievements
– In 2020, Twitter recognized them as the “fastest growing K-pop act” worldwide, placing them ahead of other groups like TXT, Stray Kids, and IZ*ONE.
– Their B-side, “Darari” (다라리), gained popularity on TikTok, amassing 500 million views with over one million uploads. It also became one of the most shazamed and streamed K-pop songs of 2022 on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
– TREASURE became the fastest Korean act to chart on the Billboard Social 50 and remained in it for six consecutive weeks before their debut.
Controversy
– The group faced controversy due to their Japan tour announcement video omitting Dokdo from the map of Korea.
– The ‘Reboot’ video, revealed at the ‘Hello Again’ event in Japan, showcased a 2024 tour across seven regions. The map displayed major islands, but Dokdo was noticeably absent. The company remained silent on the issue.
