Kep1er (케플러) is a South Korean 9-member Kpop girl group that debuted on January 3rd, 2022, with the mini album “First Impact” under WAKEONE Entertainment and SWING Entertainment. The group members consist of  Yujin, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Youngeun and Yeseo.

Kep1er Facts:

– Kep1er (also Kepler) was created on a TV show called Girls Planet 999 in 2021.
– They officially started their music career on January 3, 2022, with their first album called “First Impact,” and said to be active only for 2 years and 6 months.
– The name “Kep1er” was chosen by fans and refers to planets in the Kepler star system, named after the astronomer Johannes Kepler from the 16th century.
– Before the TV show, some members were already in the entertainment industry. For example, Yujin was part of the group CLC, and Yeseo was in CutieL and later Busters. Dayeon and Xiaoting participated in other music competitions before joining Kep1er.
– Originally, Kep1er was supposed to debut on December 14, 2021, but due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19, their debut was delayed to January 3, 2022. Despite some challenges, the group has achieved success, winning awards and releasing multiple albums, including Japanese singles.
– As of September 2023, there are discussions about extending the group’s contract beyond the initial 2 years and 6 months. If the extension doesn’t happen, the group might disband around mid-2024.
– They currently have two subunits; “TAPE Unit” and “Tropical Light Unit”.
– The TAPE Unit consists of Mashiro, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, and Huening Bahiyyih.
– The Tropical Light Unit consists of Yujin, Xiaoting, Youngeun, and Yeseo.
