WayV (威神V, WeiShen V) members are Kun, Ten, WinWin, XiaoJun, Hendery, and YangYang.  The six-member NCT subunit originally debuted as seven on January 17, 2019, with the single album “The Vision” under SM Entertainment and Label V. It is the only NCT subunit based in China.

WayV Profile

WayV Facts:

– It is the fourth subunit of NCT, and is situated in China, and operates under SM Entertainment’s exclusive label for the Chinese market, Label V.
– The group’s fandom name is “WayZenNi” and it’s the only NCT subunit that has its own fandom name.
– Initially, all seven members of WayV were part of SM Rookies.
– As of June 2023, the members reside in the same building across two different floors, each with their own private room.

WayV Subunits & Lucas Departure from WayV & NCT

– The first sub-unit of WayV, WayV-KUN&XIAOJUN (威神V-KUN&XIAOJUN), debuted on June 16, 2021, with the single “Back To You.”
– The second sub-unit, consisting of Ten and Yang Yang, made their debut with the single “Low Low”.
– Lucas and Hendery were about to debut as WayV’s third sub-unit with the single “Jalapeño”, however, due to controversies surrounding Lucas’ past behavior with ex-girlfriends, the release was indefinitely postponed. It was also announced that Lucas would suspend all schedules to reflect on his actions.
– After a 2-year hiatus, On May 10, 2023, SM Entertainment confirmed that Lucas would be departing from both WayV and NCT to pursue solo activities.

Achievements

– Three songs from their debut Ep “Vision” peaked in the top ten on the Billboard World Digital Songs.
– The group also made an impressive debut at number four on the Billboard Social 50, the best debut since XXXTentacion in June 2018.
– Their EP “Take Off” topped the iTunes album chart in 30 regions and the single also debuted at number two on the QQ Music Weekly Popularity chart.
