BGYO Members Profile & Facts

BGYO, formerly known as SHA Boys, is a five-member Filipino Ppop boy group under Star Music. The group members consist of Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate. They debuted on January 29, 2021, with the single ”The Light”.

BGYO Profile

BGYO Facts:

– The group’s name, BGYO, stands for “Being the change, Going further, You and I, Originally Filipino.”
– They are nicknamed as the “Aces of P-pop.”
– The group was formed by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy in 2018.
– All BGYO members particiate in writing and composing songs for the group.
– The group considers ENHYPEN and TXT’s Yeonjun as their fashion role models.
– The members trained for two years at theStar Hunt Academy and had mentors from South Korea (Mu Doctor Academy) who trained idols like Stray Kids’s Changbin, WINNER’s Mino, Oh My Girl’s Hyojung, MONSTA X’s I.M  and MOMOLAND’s Hyebin.
– Star Hunt initially planned to debut a seven-member group but later was finalized with five members.
– BGYO’s lightstick is called ‘The Light’ and it is named after their debut album of the same name.

Achievements

– Their album ‘The Light’ stayed at No.1 on iTunes in the Phillipines for the longest time by a Filipino artist.
– They topped the Billboard’s Next Big Sound chart and iTunes Album Chart in five countries in 2022. (teenvogue)
– BGYO became the first and only Filipino group to headline Hallyuween which is the country’s Halloween Kpop concert that features artists like Epik High, 2NE1’s CL, KARD, PENTAGON, Gaho x Kave and DJ Soda.

– Their popular songs include ‘Patintero’, ‘Tumitigil Ang Mundo’, ‘He’s into Her’, and ‘Kulay’.

Awards

– The group won the “People’s Voice Favorite Group Artist” at the 34th AWIT Awards for two years consecutively in 2021 and 2022.
– They have also won awards like “Outstanding Boy Group of the Year” at the 2nd Diamond Excellence Awards and “P-Pop Group of the Year” at the TikTok Awards Philippines 2022.

 Gelo Facts:

– Gelo became interested in music through dancing.
– He likes dancing, theatre, listening to music, and eating in his spare time.
– He was discovered by one of the coaches.
– He would like to collaborate with American pop stars like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

JL Facts:

– According to SHA trainees, he was loudest and most talkative trainee.
– He wants to pursue Engineering in college.

Mikki Facts:

Nate Facts:
